DENTAL BONDING IN GAINESVILLE, GA
DEFINITION
Dental bonding is a general term that refers to a variety of ways to apply tooth-colored filling material to existing damaged or discolored teeth in order to restore their natural appearance. It is a relatively inexpensive and easy dental procedure that can be completed in one office visit. In some cases, it does not require anesthesia.
USES
Bonding is a quick and affordable way to correct a variety of dental flaws, including:
- Cracks
- Discoloration
- Gaps
- Low bite pressure (caused by short or uneven teeth)
- Tooth decay
PROCEDURE
When Dr. Gallo-Urrego bonds your tooth, she gently abrades the surface of the tooth in order to roughen it, then applies a coating of conditioning liquid that helps the bonding material adhere to the tooth. Next, Dr. Gallo-Urrego molds and shapes a tooth-colored, putty-like composite resin to correct whatever shape or color problem we are trying to solve. The dentist then uses high intensity visible light to harden the resin. Finally, the dentist trims and adjusts the resin, polishing the material until a life-like appearance is achieved, completing the bonding process.
